Summer in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City is known for it's winters, but in my opinion Utah summers are even better, especially when it comes to taking photos. There is a good stretch from the end of May to the beginning of August where everything is green and it's not so dry that the grass and tree start to turn brown. I frequently get requests for photo locations that are green and beautiful in early spring and I always hate to break it to people that there are still multiple feet of snow at most high elevation locations across Northern Utah in March/April.
As a photographer it's important to me to communicate expectations very clearly and that includes being realistic about weather and how all of our favorite photo locations can be affected by the seasons.

Late November - Early April
Weather conditions up in the canyons are snowy and trees are dead and brown unless they are evergreen. If you don't want a snowy session maybe opt for an indoor natural light studio or the Utah State Capitol building as alternative locations.
Mid April - May
Spring has sprung down in the valley! The cherry blossoms are popping off in orchards all across the valley, buds are forming on the trees, and the grass is starting to turn green again.
June-August
Everything is green, wildflowers are growing, trees are lush and full. The photo session featured above took place in June near Salt Lake City. While it looks like spring, it was the beginning of summer. If you want to guarantee a green shoot up in the mountains, make sure to schedule it before September comes, because Utah autumn has all the photo locations buzzing with people.
